Adventures in Potty Training

Warning:  this post is about poo (and I’m not talking about the cuddly guy who likes honey), so if you don’t have children and/or this isn’t a topic you discuss with friends regularly you may want to skip this post.  Those of us with kids and especially kids on the spectrum are more than comfortable [...]

So Thankful

I woke up this morning listening to the Roc talking through the baby monitor.  He still doesn’t come out of his room on his own in the morning.  Our master bedroom is on the first floor and his room is on the second so I still use a baby monitor to know when he is [...]

We had the Roc’s fall conference, 4-year eval, and IEP meeting yesterday and my head is still buzzing with all the information we were given.  Some of it disheartening, some of it good, and many things I already knew to be true about the Roc.
His awesome preschool teacher let me know he’s doing well transitioning [...]

Lately I’ve been up too late

I wrote this post on Monday morning but wanted to wait to get permission to include someone else’s blog post within my own.  So even though it’s Wednesday afternoon, here’s what I was thinking on Monday morning:
I’ve been staying up way too late the past few nights and my thoughts are crowded with other people’s [...]

Wednesday Wow!

The Roc really wow’d me this morning.  He requested to “color with markers” which usually means drawing lines or circles all over the paper and the occasional “H.”  He still fists the marker and won’t hold it correctly for me (and only me apparently).  I don’t know where the fascination with the letter “H” came [...]

Hockey + Independence

Two very cool things happened this morning.  First, the Roc found a little wooden hockey stick (that we’ve had around since before he was born), grabbed a ball and started to play hockey in the kitchen!

The second cool thing happened when I told [...]

Fridays + Friends

The Roc’s Fridays + Friends playdate didn’t happen this morning so we went to check out the new Wal Mart that just opened here in town (SCORE–I got lots of food for a lot cheaper than our normal grocery store! I’m still wishing it was a super Target though).  Here are the pics from last [...]

A New Day + A Happy Roc

We had a cranky Roc at our house last night.  Lots of whining and quick frustration over silly things.  What’s silly you ask?  The screaming/crying fit at the dinner table because two pieces of pasta were stuck together is a good example!  It was one of those nights when I looked at GC and just [...]

About a month ago the Roc had a field trip to the local fire station.  It didn’t go so well and I thought that it was the end of my going to school outings for awhile.  Then the Roc’s awesome preschool teacher wrote me an email thanking me for “hanging in there” during the field [...]

Halloween

We started our Halloween celebration on Thursday night – carving pumpkins.  Actually, GC designs and carves while I watch and take pictures!

The Roc stuck his hand in the pumpkin once.  That one time was enough for him!

He went on to show me what he wanted Santa to bring him for Christmas.

A train table.  We are [...]
